Plans for Building our New Pre-School.

West Haddon Pre-School currently operates from the local Village Hall.

Although this 'venue' has served us well, space is becoming more and more restricted and the growing number of Ofsted requirements (such as allowing children to pick their own activities and a large outdoor playing space) mean that the Village Hall is no longer the ideal space for the Pre-School.

Having to set up from scratch each morning and pack everything away again at the end of the session takes a long time and means that we cannot display the children's work. It also limits the equipment and toys we can use. As we share the space with other users we are restricted to opening only four mornings each week, when ideally we would like to open five mornings and five afternoons. A recent parental questionnaire shows this is something parents would like to see. Having our own premises would allow this to happen.

We therefore plan to move premises. We have been in discussions with the Head and Governors of the West Haddon C of E Primary School.  They have agreed that moving into the school grounds would be an ideal solution (it is adjacent to the Village Hall). We plan to erect a purpose built pre-school within the school grounds.

Our planning application has been submitted to Daventry District Council.  An overview of the plans can be viewed here, and the more detailed plans by clicking here.

The overall projected cost of this is £210,000. We are delighted that we have secured grants of £180,000 towards this cost. We however need to raise the remaining £30,000.
